Critical minerals & its importance
Critical minerals such as copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt and rare earth elements are essential components in many of today's rapidly growing clean energy technologies – from wind turbines and electricity networks to electric vehicles. Demand for critical minerals has also increased in recent years with the spread of high-tech devices for personal use such as smartphones and tablets. The 'criticality' of a mineral changes with time as supply and society's needs shift.
